PNGD: 1988 Charvel Model 5A Fire Crackle Modified

Missing a lock nut screw/piece, one of the funky covers over the string retainer block and has a non-original bar for the Jackson OFR...oh...and the added Neck HB (DiMarzio it appears) and 3 Way Toggle. Other than a couple chips on the headstock edge finish...it's clean.

*** Anyone got one of these nuts laying around w/which they'd part???

Nice. Too bad someone had to put that neck humbucker in there. 5A's are fw and far between.

I actually prefer the added HB. Actually appears to have had it done professionally so it is a well done job.

Got a replacement nut on order. Have to wait and see what I think of it after it has the nut replaced, it is set up and I have spent some time playing it. :friday:

Oooooooooh. That's a big want. The cons for me though: neck pup, and painted neck. Nice ax though!

I thought there was a 2-hum Model 5? They had the 5A and 5FX (H-S), which was a 5A that was neck-pickupped at the Ft Worth service center/HQ, and I'm pretty sure they did have a H-H Model 5.
How do you know the neck hum was added later?

There's a guy on Tennessee CL that has one, identical color but all original with the case. He's asking $175. It's a freakin' steal, but I don't feel like driving 3 hours one way to go get it.

cool axe. I have to admit, I hated the firecrackle back in the day, but I kinda dig it now. This one anyhow cuz it looks like fire.. Never got the rainbow colored one tho..

Not quite the same, that one's a "Charvette"...diff finish too...
