I have a Blackstar HT-5 and would like to expand it's tonal range by adding a good multi-effects device to it. So far, I have found the POD 2.0, Zoom G3, and the Fender Mustang Floor, but I am open to other suggestions in the $200 range.
The primary use of this device is it's ability to download other user created "patches" to the device to give me a tone for a specific band and/or song that I want to learn/practice without having to create it on my own. Thus I would need one with a large online selection of patches. This is the reason I am not including the POD HD Desktop as it's fairly new and doesn't have many online patches available, at least not through Line-6's website.
I want a good software interface where I can play with different effects on the PC and have them adjust the device on the fly without the need to save them as a patch. I like the look of the Fender FUSE software as everything is graphical and each choice I make is represented with a picture of the virtual amp/cab/pedal I am using and you adjust them like you would the real thing. Does the POD or Zoom software allow this?
This device will be 100% practice, so it wont be used on stage or in any live situations. I don't mind pedals, but probably wont use them much as most of my tweaking will be via the PC.
The device would need a headphone output as I have a 3 year old and often practice when she is taking her nap. It would also need some good amp/cab emulations so I don't have to run it through my amp if I am just using headphones.
Any recommendations or suggestions?
