Actually, Benjy I really like the tone of the XTL through the front end of the Rivera. Once I got it dialed in, and starting using the high input on my amp, it really "opened up". But, I wanted to try the Reactor for two reasons
1) despite the great tone of the models I use (JTM45,800,Soldano), I get weird octave like overtones with it on certain places on the fretboard. It gets annoying after awhile.
2) I would have thought the Reactor would work even better...in some ways it does...giving the tube feel under your fingers, and the increase in low end is great. I can't dial out the buzz/honk though.
Maybe the speaker needs to break in, I don't know.
