My pod 2.0 serves as my pratice amp at home through my computer. an added bonus is all I have to do to record is set up my multitrack software, plug the POD into my audigy 2 pro soundcard, and start recording.
Its a great creative tool, but I would never use it in a live situation, band pratice, or in a recording that isnt a demo. It just to me seems to sound a little too cold for anything else. However, either the XT or the 2.0 should work great for your situation. Its a great little unit for pratice.
