Hey guys, as much as I'd like, more like love to get my hands on a sick Marshall or Mesa head and a nice 4x12 cab, I don't think I can handle that. I am legally blind and my eye sight gets worse as time goes on. It wont be safe for me or my gear to carry around heavy equipment. That's why I am thinking of the POD xt Live. I could chuck one in my back pack and grab my guitar and cane and head on out. Sure I could have someone help me lug around a head and cab, but I'm an independent guy. But for places without PAs I could get a Fender Acoustisonic amp and use it as a power amp, couldn't I? What can the POD xt live do without the FBV board and what can it do with it? Opinions? Thanks guys.

Maybe you're thinking of the wrong thing...the XT Live won't fit in your backpack, and it has the FBV floorboard built into it - the XTL is a floorboard.
The XT, however, needs the floorboard to be used to its full potential. You get the footswitchable channels, effects, tap tempo, and expression pedal control.

The XT live doesn't need a footboard. It is its own footboard. Depending on the PA, you might not be satisfied with your stage volume. I find the amp models to be pretty good but it takes a lot of dialing in to get a good natural-sounding amp tone.
Are you looking to use it in a band situation or more for open stages? Couldn't your bandmates pitch in a hand?

Sorry, to hear about your eye problem but remember that, the problem doesn´t stop you from keep on playing... move on and foward!!!
the xt live has its own pedals and exp pedal and it doesnt fit in any back pack, maybe you could buy a pod xt which is the little red bean with steroids...

It's just that having pedals, a head and cab is a lot for me to carry around. I know I could get someone to help me, but I like being self-reliant. I already have to rely on other people for a lot of things. I'm not letting my eye sight stop me from doing anything with music, I plan to major in music, or minor. I am just trying to think of something that would be convenient for me. I suppose I could try and get some sort of 2x12 cab.... Ahhhhh, too many factors.

I have a POD XTLive, and it's a bit bigger than most backpaks. They sell a carry bag made just for it though.
If you do decide to get a cab to go with it, Atomic makes a tube amp that is designed to "de-digitize" the sound of modelers. They have a 1x12 and they just came out with a 2x12 too.
