PODxt the best?

I'm about to buy a Podxt.
But before I do... Is the Podxt really the best for doing home recording?
I know there are alot of copies out there. I'm just wondering are any of them better?

Re: PODxt the best?

I have one and I'm more than happy with it, I bought it for general home use and a bit of recording, although I have NO experience with anything else apart from the Boss GT6 (the boss has more tweakable FX but the POD has better distortions/preamp stuff IMO)

Re: PODxt the best?

As told to me by a studio owner - POD for recording, GT6 for live. I imagine the PODxt Live may be best of both worlds.

Although...GT8 is coming in January, so I would wait until then, to at least see the GT8.

Oh yeah, I have the GT6.

podXT is awesome for home recording.

i'd guess the live version would give you a 'cheap' (still 400$ though), good versatile sound in a board. good if you're not a millionaire, so you could get a good recording studio and a live rig the size of your living room hehe

Re: PODxt the best?

I bought a POD XT Live over the weekend, but I think it's going back. It's made very solidly and delivers some nice tones with some dimension to them (i.e., a sense of space or air in the sound through headphones). However, I think the regular POD XT is a much better option for home use. The output level knob on the XT Live is small and a little hard to reach, it's tougher to tweak on the floor than a bean on the desk, and the floor unit is huge. My only real reservation about the XT series is that there seems to be way too much treble in all of the standard settings -- even with my LP Studio, let alone my Teles. I may check out the Vox Tonelab as an alternative, but that or the standard XT bean look like better recording solutions than the XT Live to me.

Re: PODxt the best?

Thanks. I've really only heard good about PODxts so I'm pretty sure next time I see a good deal I'll grab one!

Re: PODxt the best?

I bought mine with the full intent of messing with it then returning it to GC. 8 months later I love the little sucker. It will make you lazy. I can turn it on, plug in, and get perfectly usable tones over my computer speakers. I have $3000+ worth of tube heads sitting next to me collecting dust. They still sound a little better but you can't beat the ease of the POD XT.

Re: PODxt the best?

Man, you guys are making me think too much about how to spend my Christmas bonus...
