Polepiece heights - perpetual burn - tuning

Just installed this perpetual burn humbucker in my Charvel. Sounds good. Has anyone played with pole piece heights and noticed any perceivable changes? This one is direct mounted to be body so there's not much I can do for overall height adjustment.

You can't adjust the pickup height? just put some foam under it or surgical tube on the screws.

I usually just either leave them flat or with a slight curve to follow the radius

Wait... why do you have a ring around it if its direct mounted? Might as well just mount it to the ring so you can adjust the height. Pole piece height is very much a matter of taste with no rules regarding it.

I just like the looks of the ring - I honestly do not like the looks of direct mounted pickups on most guitars. It's just held in place by friction around the pickup.

Again - not looking for height recommendations - asking if anyone has specific experience with the polepiece heights on this particular pickup.

In your guitar? No I havent in mine yes but what works in mine might be garbage for yours. Its a personal preference thing

Polepieces can be adjusted anyway you like. I have found with the pickups I own that they add bite to the string as you adjust up. You can add fullness to the pickup by raising it, and finetune the treble or bite with the poles.

How the $&@# did you get a double cream one? Just swap the coils on a zebra and reverse zebra? And I have messed with the pole pieces more on the bass side of mine to get rid of a little bit of that weird open lowE string clunk it has in this guitar( direct mounted in a Fiesta Red Charvel no less) . It just sounded like the low E string was too close so I backed the pole down a little and actually took a utility knife and cut out the thick paint underneath the pickup on the bass side to get a little more clearance. It's invisible unless you take the pickup out and got me the clearance I needed.

Yes, it's a great guitar and you gotta have double creams! Was jamming on it yesterday!

To me the pickup has a lot of the same characteristics as a Dimarzio Tone Zone or a JB - pronounced mids, boxy highs and lows. Previously had a Custom in this one which has a lot more sizzle on both highs and lows a hollow mids. I'd be interested to hear of people adding a little bit of high end back by playing with their poles.
