Polishing Problems, help

tone?

ok, so i read in reranch that after you do your clear coats and wait a few days you can go ahead and start to polish the finish using higher grades of wet paper.

although i havent done this yet ( cause my body and neck are still drying) i tried polishing an old guitar of mine with just Finesse it.

well i tried it on the back of the guitar and it made the finish dull. what am i doing wrong? will this happen to my newly finished guitar? i thought that it would give a mirror like shine. i didnt press too hard either while putting on the polish.

any ideas. are old finishes different than new?

I used the Finesse It as a final buffing solution after sanding through 2000 grit and using a hand drill buffing wheel and Stew-Mac fine buffing compound. You may have to wipe off the excess, but my finishes turned out great.
