Re: POLL: Les Paul Pickguards

My Les has a really nice Flame top. If I remove the pick gaurd won't there be screw holes in the top? I'm not sur how to cover thoose.

Hum...
I like a good one-ply black bakelite or pearl pickguard on a Tele, definitely part of the overall appearance.
On a Lester, it depends but I usually like it off. Looks better that way most of the time, figured top or not, even on Black Beauties. But that's just me...

Re: POLL: Les Paul Pickguards

Go without the pickguard. The flame and beauty will make you dizzy.

Re: POLL: Les Paul Pickguards

My Custom Shop Elegant came with a clear pickguard. It protects the finish and lets the beautiful quilt top remain visible.

Re: POLL: Les Paul Pickguards

No pickguards on any Arched top guitar. I don't hit the top with my pick on those guitars, , and it feels weird with when the top is arched.

Classy, vintage look. Pickguard, please.

This is my opinion as well. Nice top or not.

I was looking at Les Pauls for fun the other day for quite awhile, and was thinking to myself "even if money was no object, I think I'd buy a regular 'ol Black standard w/ cream pickguard". Weird how tastes change with age.

Didn't realize folks were so passionate about them though :D

Re: POLL: Les Paul Pickguards

I have a custom pick guard on my Les Paul Custom. It's a tortoise shell color and looks really great on the white background.
