Poor Man's Gilmour Swish

I'm looking for a slightly cheaper than the (300 dollar...) Dunlop Uni-vibe effect - the effect found through Breathe and the ending of Time.. I'm addicted to that sound, and keep writing song parts where the sound would be absolutely perfect but I don't have it.

If possible.. could anyone also recommend a good, but not overly expensive/boutique compressor? And is the Line 6 DL4 a good enough Delay to get all of the Gilmour / any delay tones I would want?

...yeah.. I've gotten Gilmour crazy since getting the strat.

I got a Mojo Vibe a few months ago for $270. It does that "Breathe" type effect pretty darn well (not to mention the whole Trower/Hendrix univibe thing).

I know it sounds weird, but the Danelectro Chicken Salad is actually a nice vibe/phase sound. It's got an internal trim pot that's nice to play with. I recommend getting one and rehousing it.

Also check out the 2 stage phasers, MXR Phase 45, DOD 201 and Tonefactor Nebula. (THe first two are out of production, obviously...) While they aren't exactly the same as a Univibe, it's very close and will do the Breathe thing, along with some other stuff.

The Boss PS-3 will definately get you in that ballpark. It's also got an input to control it with an expression pedal so you can cop the univibe sound pretty well . . .

The PH-3 has some pretty cool features, but I don't quite like what it does to my tone.. Might get a TB looper for that though.. That being said, I can agree it will definitely give you the Breathe vibe..
