Pop-tastic Spring Jam

Re: Pop-tastic Spring Jam

Oh yeah:

Squier '51 (on bridge humbucker) into Fender Ultimate Chorus with gain set too high (12 o clock, 5 out of 10)

Written off of 4 or 5 other bad ideas...all of which started out as ALT / METAL ideas, but this pop chorus just sounded so pleasing and the verse tamed itself to match. I'm hardly in control when it comes to songwriting, seems like the song writes itself sometimes ya know?

Re: Pop-tastic Spring Jam

I really like the progression!

I know what you mean when it comes to lack of control in songwriting. When I try to write a serious song in a genre I actually like I can't really come up with anything good, but if I'm writing a rap song I can come up with an entire song in a matter or minutes.

Yeah, I started out with all these really dark chords and chug-chug-chugs, and the song just got "happier" as time went on, trying to find the right chords to match each other.

It's really hard to sit down and write a "metal" song or an "alt" song, I know, I just tried :laugh2:

P.S. I just wrote / recorded another little thing called Kelly

Kelly

Re: Pop-tastic Spring Jam

On "Kelly" I played my Jackson for the rhythm track on it's bridge (and only) humbucker, and my Stratocaster on the neck pickup with Fender amp delay for the accent part.
