I had the 7 string version of that guitar. Dont know if it was basswood or poplar. The only pickup I tried in it was the DiMarzio D-activator. Sounded killer.

The body is basswood which is very warm sounding. Jackson pickups aren’t very good. So start there.
You are naming very overwound pickups. They aren’t very bright sounding. They just have a lot of upper mids. So unless you use a lot of distortion they will sound like mud.
You need brighter pickups, not hotter ones.

Yea me to man. Thanks for the reply . I got home from work today I love in an apartment nobody was home so I got to crank my crate gfx 1200h up to half way. Wich was loud and I checked out all my guitars. They all sound way better with some volume. But now I better understand what I have . I had decided on the distiorn but since you said that also it's a definite. Thanks again man. Yea you helped me with the last guitar also. My Dean V with the livewires. It sounds great with some volume. Not as much without.

I would try a Duncan Custom. It has a crisp top end due to the caramic magnet. But I'm biased, it's one of my all time favorite pickups.

I got a JS32 which has a poplar body. It is a very bright guitar. My go to pickup is a Custom 5 which I have in an HSS Strat and love. However it was WAY to thin and lots of treble in the Jackson. After much research I dropped a dimarzio Breed set into it. Fantastic! The perfect pickup for that guitar.
