Anyone try one or even heard of them???

Or go to www.portcityamps.com & click on 2x12 cabinets (or 1x12 or 4x12 :D )

Looks like a smaller more transportable version of the G-Flex.

Anyone with a G-Flex know if they also use the angled baffles inside the cab?

Thanks! :beerchug:

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

I drew up a banner for the owner of that company. Put it on silver sparkle tolex and added grommets to it for use to hang it etc for trade shows. Cool little doo-dad. Wish I had an opportunity to hear one, but haven't yet. The designer/owner seems to know his stuff though. Might just see if I can get him to make me one in tolex to match the Traynor I have. It would be cool to have one at the base of my short stack. It would put both my heads up where I can tweak them with more ease.

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

He's in your neck of the woods....ring him up!!!

I've been chatting with him on line & he seems to be a very cool guy....and the cab seems to be something special.

I'm trying to get him to make a combo cab wave.....amp chassis up top with the wave 1x12 bottom.

Might be a nice solution to the boxy 1x12 conundrum :D

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

I sent the owner a message ref the comparsion between the Wave, G-Flex & other ported cabs.

Here's his response:

"The dealer of mine in Nashville carries Genz Benz. I sent him one and the first thing he did was A/B it against the 2x12 G-Flex. He said it was not even close.

He then went to a THD. The Wave (2x12) killed it. He wanted it. Within
two hours he sold it and placed his order for more."

Hmmmmm......very interesting cab. I'm looking to move some of my bigger cabs & will be needing a smaller 2x12 with enough ooomph to replace them; Consider the Wave 2x12 added to my New Years Wish List

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

Not that I have a problem with the design or anything, but these amps cost as much as a good 4x12 almost and space isn't really as much of an obstacle for me as it is for others. I own a truck and can haul it with no probs regardless of it's size.

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

TRUE..........

But some of us drive Hyundai Sonatas & are only alotted a corner in the home for gear......or the already crowded garage :dunno:

Plus, it's smaller & lighter for the older crowd! :D

AND unloaded, the price isn't bad at all directly from the owner:bigok:

That would actually look really cool with Irish Flag Tolex on it. It sounds like it kicks booty.

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

that cab would look great with a Diedre 30 sitting on top of it!!!

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

HEY.....got the Port City Cab.

If this thing sounds half as good as it looks, he'll sell a TON of these things!!!!

Black cab with the cream Wave front...... :32:

The wife wasn't impressed to see the size of the box, but when she saw the cab LOOKED 10 times better than a '78 Marshall 4x12 & saw me wheeling that beast into the garage, she was KIND OF pleased; But let's not go crazy there!!! :D

Anyway, I'll be mounting a pair of homeless Celestion G12-65s from '82/'83 into this sucker & try it out with the amps........ I'll be back with an update :headbang:

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

Well.........??????????????

[waits with baited breath]
:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I didn't get to load it last night & probably won't get to mess with it till my next day off, Tuesday & Wednesday.

My wife had some family come into town last night thru the weekend & I'm working all weekend :smack:

I might try to load it up real quick this evening or in the morning (working OT 1200-1800)....I'm dying to hear it !!!!

With the Fuchs ODS-20 sitting on top, it's LOOKS like a nice little package. Hopefully, it'll sound as good as it looks :D

Sorry to tease, but it's all about settin' the hook................:laugh2:

HONESTLY, the pics don't do it justice :32:

The pics looks a little more yellow than tan or cream colored....it kind of looks like black with a blonde tolex, if that helps.

VERY NICE in person....unloaded, it weighs MAYBE 20lbs. & with the handle set in the middle, it's very easy to carry. Side handles might have been nice too; I set the head on top & was trying to adjust its' position but you'd have to either slide it, which is tough with the rubber feet, or take the head off, set the cab where ya' want it & then put the head back on.

Not a big deal really....

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

Can you get me a rough sketch of the size of it (height/width/depth)? Thanks!

Ordered the tolex for it today. Needed it to match the Traynor tolex as much as possible. Going for the silver sparkle front fascia. as that should match up well with the grayish grill the YCS-100 has.

Re: Port City Wave 2x12

NICE !

I'm at work, but on the site it says 17" tall x 28" wide x 11 1/2" deep, 30lbs unloaded.

Honestly, it doesn't feel 30lbs at all, probably because of the handle placement.
