Possible NGD, advice needed

I'm on the prowl for something that brings together the best of both worlds of a superstrat and a LP. So double cutaway, mahogany body and neck, carved maple top, 2 humbuckers and a short scale neck. I've been hoping for a Charvel 750 XL for ages, but they are few and far between.

So I got a chance to buy a Heartfield Elan III. Early 90's model, quilt top, Floyd Rose Pro trem. Price is about 630 euros/800$, condition seems to be near mint. It's in another city, so I can't try it out first. Thing is, I know very little about these guitars.

So, worth it? Anybody have any experience with these?

I remember those..they are not my cup of tea, but I still thought they were pretty cool.

You don't find too many superstrats with short scale neck...the Peavey Destiny is the only one that comes to mind, but I am sure there are others. And there are lots of Les Paul wannabes, but they usually don't have that third pickup.

Good luck.

Carvin makes almost everything with a 25" scale , can always go the build it from scratch route.

LP + Superstrat?

Isn't there a PRS that equals that?

Re: Possible NGD, advice needed

PRS are pricey as all hell and also dont come with double locking whammys.

Good point - PRS's do come with Floyds nowadays. But they are not "strats" or "lesters". They don't play, feel, sound nor look like either.

On a side note, let me point out that Charvel 750XLs have maple necks.
