Possible NGD Good Deal?

Hey guys,
I don't know much about Gibson LP Studios, but I got offered a 2000 LP Studio in Ruby Red as a trade for my Blackstar HT-20 combo.

Guy says it's stock. Has a decent chip on the headstock but looks okay otherwise.
Is this a good deal?
He's including a Gibson soft case with it.
Anybody know the specs on this one? Guy claims it's rare.
Thanks!

Not sure of the value of your Blackstar, but the Studio's run somewhere in the $600 to $900 range. (used) If you're not using the Blackstar and a LP is what you like...and it plays good, feels good and sounds good....go for it.

Also, make sure the chip in the headstock didn't come from a drop or knock that could have done any structural damage to the neck.

It's a fair trade on price. Looks like he put Grovers on it, which would not have been stock. But there isn't much special about Studios. Circuit board for the electronics, crappier grade woods, fit and finish is hit and miss, but a Blackstar HT-20 combo, despite sound qualities, isn't worth much more money-wise.

See what the pawn-shop value of the amp is and, if you can afford it, try to make a cash offer on the LP studio.
Low-ball the guy to see how much he knows about what he has.
It is a huge advantage FOR YOU that there is a chipped headstock, and like beaubrummels pointed out--->the grovers are probably not stock.
I honestly believe you can get a better deal by selling the combo amp on its own, and using SOME of that cash to talk him down on the price of the guitar. Showing him that you brought like only $400 or something in physical cash helps put him on the spot to seal the deal.
Buying and selling anything used is like going to court, you got to build a case as to why you should be able to get what you want out of the deal.
