possible replacements for 7 string hz's

i got a schecter damien 7, and it rocks but i might have to replace the emg hz's that came in; they just dont sound good. I play mostly heavy metal, and i love the sound the duncan custom has on my kelly through my 6505+. The pickup hole is bigger from the hz because the pickup is housed in a bass housing. Is my only option to put active emgs in there or can i fit a duncan or dimarzio in the hz hole?

You're right about the only option being the active EMG's.

Ask DeadSkinSlayer, he's had a tone of experience with the 707 or the 81-7...

I've the 6 string version of both and I like the tone. Especially for metal.

One guy on the Sevenstring forum put a JB in his EMG-81/7 equipped Jackson stars and made it work, he even got the guy from frets on the net to make him a pickup ring to fit the hole.
