Well, I want to have my invader to have goldpoles. My question is that is it possible to replace them? :smack: If so, where can I get thoese bolts.

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

Thank you for your help, but which one would that be?

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

How would I go about changing the poles on my stock Epi pickups to ones similar to the Invader? How would I know which size to pick? And Do I need any tools other than a screw driver?

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

None of those polepieces will work, since the Invader uses HUGE (10/32" thread IIRC) polepieces.

I'm pretty sure they don't make gold poles in that size.

Oh I think it would work, I've heard of many people changing the poles on their Invaders. I think only the caps are so huge really. But it's probably best to email the allparts guys and ask.

Here you go !!!! In about 2 weeks time the guitar will be done, i will be having some of the clips on here too:)

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

anyone tried slugs in an invader?

That might be like a bucket of mud. Or maybe not. I was planning on trying that sometime, but never got around to it.

Zea, that is pretty cool. I wonder how SD has gold poles like that on hand? They don't use those for anything they sell. I don't think they have a plating machine to plate them with gold. Apparantly they have a source of those in gold.

I would be intersted in poles like that for maybe one of my Invaders but I prefer the smaller hex poles.

Fusion, that picture in your avatar: can that really be done?

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

Well not quite, the 10/32" poles on an Invader would never fit a lil' series single coil sized humbucker.

I talked to MJ and she could do something like an overwound Quarter Pounder with the Invader poles, not sure that would sound that good but you can swap something like a Dimarzio SDS-1 with the Invader poles. I've done this and it is pretty cool.

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

Fusion1 , yeah, I asked MJ to do that , + add more trebel for it. and + little more output, it is now DC = 19.8k...

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

Zea sounds good. I love the output and crunch of the Invader and in it's stock form is to muddy for me. If she gave it more treble, it might be perfect with the bigger poles. Tell us how it sounds, and if you have the means a clip would be great!

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

The only poles I ever found that could directly replace the Invader poles are Dimarzio Super-D poles. Had an Invader and a Super-D at the same time once and tried the swap -- they are totally interchangeable, or at least they were then.

But no, regular PAF style poles won't work -- way too narrow.

Re: Possible to replace the poles of the Invader?

It was so long ago and used for such a different application (partially unwound an Invader to use it as a middle pu) that I can't say -- but in theory, the tone should be a good deal thinner.
