Post pics of workhorse guitars

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

Cool axes! Anybody have anymore to show? I think you can tell a lot about a person/player from their instrument. As you can see by my photo I'm not anal about appearance, my guitars are tools and if they need to be replaced, thats what I do. I pretty much wore out my first Strat that I owned ('83 standard) it was a great guitar but, the one I replaced it with turned out just as good......Joe

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

Yeah, the way I am is so long as the back of the neck is in good condition I'm not really that arsed about what happens to the body/headstock. Just so long as it all still works :laugh2:

I don't intentionally dent my guitars, but it just happens :/

All of my guitars are pristine, not a scratch on them.

Anyone who eve looks at my guitars gets a swift punch to the throat.

Unfortunately mine have been getting thrown in the back of a van for years and they do take a beating. I don't think I would punch anyone even if they picked up one of my axes and I've found most folks ask very nicely for a closer look at my rig.....Joe

bungy bill, that strat i threw up there is an 82 standard, and man...i love that thing with all my heart lol. i just added the union jack pg to get a laugh out of my old man, who was a big Who fan.

OvationSensation,
The early eighties Strats were killer. Mine had a neck like a club but, the tone was HUGE. Glad to see you still have yours. I had to retire mine it was worn out and I didn't want to replace everything on it.....Joe

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

heres my bc rich gunslinger. its from the 80's.....dunno when though, all the records from the factory it was made in were destroyed in a flood. haha. anyway, its my most visibly damaged guitar. all my others i play the hell out of too but none of them really show it (which is pretty cool). most of the abuse to this one was by previous owners

this one, my viper-300, is the one that probably gets the most abuse cause its the one that i take to school, and is victim to late night drunken jamming and stuff llike that, but it still looks in great condition

big_black...that thing rocks...i love the one hum sg...did they come with no guard and you just added it?

Some of them come with guards, some don't. Mine didn't come with one so I added it. Without the pickguard it just looked too plain. I am very happy with the choice I made. The cream even matches the color of the side markers.

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

It's hard to tell from this pic, but my 95 Am Std is covered in scratches and dings, and my arm wore off the paint on the top. I rehearsed countless hours with it and played about 400 shows with it. It's been refretted once, and has had a couple fret dresses.
It used to have Fat 50's in it for most of it's life, but now I've got the Chubtone handwound 63's in it. People think it's a CS Relic till they see the 22nd fret and Am Std bridge. It'll always be my favorite strat.

Here is my '95 Am std. Been through the ringer as yours has, its on its 2nd neck. Great guitars. Bridge:TwangBanger
Middle:Fender 57/62
Neck:SSl-1 (gonna have one in the mid position soon)

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

Hm. I don't abuse my axes, so you won't see that type of damage. Anyway, here they are:
Black Beauty (LTD B304), Blondie (Yamaha APX10T), LesStrat, Prunella (Parker Nitefly)

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

I can't post a photo but i am known for having guitars for years without marks on them.... That is for 2 reasons.... 1-i have so many of them i don't play just one all the time to wear it in, 2-i have fixed some paint chips and minor faults to the point no one sees them.... But i did buy an older strat that was really beat because i liked the way it looked... but i didn't wear it in.

Then... When you get closer...
forbesdaws

Ouch... you can see where its been dropped and the finish has cracked... you can also begin to see where the pot has been forced back into the cavity snapping the wood...

A better picture of the pot problem...

Nice isolating material on the walls, Zerberus, but it doesn't cover all?

Re: Post pics of workhorse guitars

My gigging guitars:

vibro_tele.jpg

-72 tele custom ri. Pretty minty, apart from a bit of rust and fret wear. Much of that is due to it's incredibly hard wearing finish. some minor damage to the underside of the end of the headstock. I have a tendency to 'play' my drummer's cymbals with it during gigs.

prs.jpg

-94 PRS CU22 with 59s. A few minor dings here and there, the most major of which were from the previous owner dropping his wah on the top. I'm careful with it, but it gets gigged. This ain't no 'blues lawyer' guitar.

Mission_strat1.jpg

(please excuse 'bad tone day' face)

-57ri strat. My main guitar. It's reasonably dinged up, but nothing too bad. this is the guitar that gets the 'workout': dropped during a behind the head solo, shoved into venue walls, bounced off pedals etc...
