Post what you built !

Re: Post what you built !

Here's my hack job....literally. Mountain Ash body (Australian gum tree) carved to the shape of a superstrat type body (remarkably similar in proportions to my Jackson Dinky actually). I wanted to put in a HSS active set firstly, but a few accidents with the router later its a badly done HSH. The neck is taken from an early '90's base-level samick - and its actually one of the best players I've got somewhat ironically.

The sound is really bold. This is a hardwood so the mids are quite strong. Bright pickups don't work well here. It had a JB in there at some point and that did work quite well.

I enjoyed that video. Thanks for posting it.:)

Re: Post what you built !

Last time I showed off a build, the body design ended getting copied by another builder *Angry*

Nothing gets shown again, until I have it copywrited. That being said I have a really good new design for the headstocks.

Hells bells!

I'm really sorry to hear that. I can remember of it. It was a really nice shape.

Re: Post what you built !

I built the black one 2 years ago from a Fender MIA alder body, Warmoth maple / maple neck, SD Broadcaster bridge / SM-1 mini-hum neck

The blonde one I finished and built last year. it is a eBay seller's swamp ash body, Warmoth Pao / Maple neck and a lightly overwound BG pickups rockwind alnico 3 set

It was frustrating, but I'll finish the last build and get 2 more made in the next year or so

Re: Post what you built !

I'm not gonna pass a chance to post that one again.

El Cheapo tele kit (100$). I made "most" of the hardware with scrap metal I had around (excluding tuners and bridge)... The neck plate's from an old lawnmower blade, pickguard and control plate from an old metal sheet (all rusted) and the jack input (no pic) was made from an aluminium serial number plate from a completely rotted pick-up trucked dumped in the woods.

WINNER!!!!!! end of thread.:14:

Looked at this a second time... at first I was like "wth" but I actually like it ! Especially the headstock is very cool :D

Re: Post what you built !

I am impressed with all these guitars! Actually, I'm impressed and maybe a little jealous, but in a good way.

I'd love to try building my own guitar at some point. I did notice that most of these builds were bolt-ons... anyone have any experience building their own set neck?

Well, if it's already been copied, can we get pictures of the first one? :fingersx:

Warmoth neck/KNE body on the left (now has a white Invader with half-hex poles/half invader caps - sounds awesome!) - Warmoth body and baritone neck on the right (sold off a while back).
I'm currently putting together a King V. Still going back and forth between staying bolt-on or making it a neck-thru.

Re: Post what you built !

Awesome guitars fella's, wish I hadn't looked now because I want to get in on the action!
