hecka no!

There's 4000 mic stands in another room. No pix though. That shyt is top secret.

Re: Post Yo Studio Pic, Record Maka

i would post pics of my room, but i couldn't compete. why post a pic and say the other stuff is in the other room, you know, "top secret"?

btw: I've visited and like what you've done.

Re: Post Yo Studio Pic, Record Maka

I'll snap some pics when I get everything recorded, but Foamy, what mixer is that, and how do you like it? I need to upgrade soon.

Or, do you know of a device or box that can convert a balanced TRS signal to an unbalanced RCA signal? Like a reverse DI or something?

Re: Post Yo Studio Pic, Record Maka

This is my current setup...soon to be re-organized and re done and all that.

Gonna move it to a bigger desk, get a line 6 toneport for bass and vox (I HAVE to record direct...there's just no other option w/ the rents around ;). Plus that seems the most cost-efficent way around it. You can see my PODxt to the left.

Few more programs, few more things I need to buy. Hopefully pretty soon I'll be cranking out a decent-quality demo of my progressive stuff.

*edit* ignore the acoustic in the center...that's my travel axe. My recording acoustic is a taylor 310ce.

DSS: The small mixer is a mackie. I only really use it to power my headphones, & monitors, and to feed my G5's audio into, so everything will come out of my monitors.
That said, it does the job nicely.
Can't you go from TRS to RCA w/ adapters?

sweet gear Kindred! I'm almost 6'2", so i can't stand bendin' over to peer into the back of a rack case. But rest assured, all that stuff is very securly duct-taped to each other & to that desk it sits on. haha

Krank: nice! I shoulda given u credit. Ur other thread inspired this thread. It made me want to see others stuu-dee-ohh pr0n.

Re: Post Yo Studio Pic, Record Maka

My friend refers to this as "Mission Control":

The notebook on the left is my work computer. The one on the stand is my personal PC. It's hooked up to the screen between the Samson monitors. Under the monitor stand is my MBox, my crappy Behringer mixer, and my external drive. My Pod XT is on the desk near the keyboard, which is a 1987 Yamaha DX7 btw.

I would like a better mixer, and a USB keyboard interface too, but other than that I'm pretty happy with my studio gear.

Re: Post Yo Studio Pic, Record Maka

Allright allright.

Since 'yer on 'yer knees I'll show you my office!

The condensed technical readout for that battlestation is this;

One 44-input Trident 65 mixing console; Dynaudio monitors w/Hafler power; a crazy custom audio computer that's running SX3 & SoundForge 8 w/ tons of a plugs, a 19" LCD and Trashcam moving fader package for DAW control. Outboard racks are stuffed with old Telefunken, Summit, Urei, Demeter, class A tube & discrete transistor audio gear; high end digital TC Electronics, Mytek, Lexicon etc. The mics are pretty sick too. A couple three Nuemann's (M147 tube & 2 TLM103), two pairs of BLUE (baby bottles & Dragonflys), all the standard stuff; 57's, 58's, 421's; various AKG's; Groove Tubes DI box; Audio Technica 40series, Audix...various medicore but useful bits.

The side & backwalls are a little less exciting to look at but there's pictures & lights & stuff all over the place...the acoustic clouds suspended from the ceiling can get kind trippy after a while...

mooselair_backwall_01.jpg

You can't see the other computer, the massive 4'x5' acoustic treatment on the rear wall, the bullentin/dryerase board and the rest of the "office" part of the office. That's all to the left of the double doors.

There's also a 1970's era Studer A80MkII 1/4" 2-track recorder to the side of the outboard rack in the first picture...that's hidden from view in that picture but a HUGE part of my kit. I love that machine!!!

And yeah...I do this for a living.

All that crap's paid for!!!
