Post your amp collection

Re: Post your amp collection

Here's a quick mobile pic.

The 1936 cab and Starfield rack amp are a friends.

Other than that there's a Laney Ironheart Studio, Mesa MkIIC+ Clone, Soldano SLO (ish) amp and my custom Roadkill cab

Yes Sir . . . indeed i do !

To my ears, the Emi web site actually describing the speaker very accurately.
I would love to get another, to replace the V30, so that i can have a 2X12 Swamp Thang combo. (seeing that i already have a 2X12 V30 loaded cab)
The louder the amp, the 'better' you can hear the character of the Swamp Thang.

Sounds perfect for me thanks!

Marshall JMP 2104 Combo - I love this amp to death. I had one I bought new in 1980 then sold a few years later when I thought I needed 2 channels and reverb. Regretted that sale for years. Picked this one up on eBay in 2007. The open back fills a room beautifully but can be a bit light on bass. (But the bassist does the bass, right?) Makes a great mini-stack with the 1936 cab, giving a nice open back / closed back combination. Weighs a ton - sometimes think about buying a head box for the amp chassis.

Marshall Silver Jubilee 2553 / 2556AV / 2556B - Bought the head and bottom cab in 2002, finally found a top cab in 2010 to complete the stack. A previous owner replaced the V30s in the 2556AV with G12H-30s and I replaced one of those with another V30 so it now has a nice V30 / G12H-30 pair. The 2556B has the original G12T-75s. Call me insane but I frequently think of selling this amp. It sounds great and it's a collector's piece but what it does best is 80s rock, and my style and influences are all 70s and 60s. The Jubilee gets a lot less use than the JMP and the DSL. I'd probably keep the top cab as I love the diagonal compact 2x12 form and could see it working with a different head.

Marshall DSL 50 - This is a 2006 model that I bought in (I think) 2009. I was hoping it would work as a lead/rhythm channel switcher but it hasn't worked out that way - the channels are voiced differently and the EQ is shared. Having said that, I think every guitarist will find one Marshall tone they love in this amp. I'm hooked on the green channel's crunch mode but haven't found anything I like in the red channel. Thinking about trying the C12 mod to tame the brightness on the red channel. I gig with this amp frequently - using the green channel crunch mode and boosting with an OD for solos.

JCM 800 1936 cab - Nice old plywood cab. I've replaced the G12T-75s with a V30 and G12H-30. Sounds great with the DSL or as an extension cab for the JMP combo.

Roland Cube 30 - Love this versatile little baby for practising, and the line out records really well.

Re: Post your amp collection

Here's my little amp wall:

Sovtek MIG 50, Marshall 1965a 410 cabinet, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Fane alnico blue 100 watter and some internal mods, and my home brew Marshall Plexi Lead spec combo that started life as an Epi Blues Custom 30. The little Epi cab has the stock Fender speaker from the Deluxe, and I also have an oversized 212 that needs something better than the Carvin speakers it has.

Sent from my chromed robot turd, using the miserable junk code known as crapatalk.
