Re: Post your best player and why.

It's a tie between the three of them 100_5197.jpg
I've already described them in detail elsewhere.

1. Warmoth LP (pre-lawsuit)
2. 24.75"
3. Black Korina, chambered body
4. Wenge neck with ziricote fretboard, gold frets, 59 roundback profile
5. Seymour Duncan Jazz neck and trembucker with a Duncan STK-S4 sandwiched between them, DIY finish, Elixir nanoweb strings (10-46), tusq XL nut, Wilkinson 2 point trem. Wenge knobs, push/pull vol pot for split coil action.
6. Body is 7 years old now and neck is 8 years old. Been my main player for the past 7 years. Has traveled the world with me and played gigs, recorded and been used as a practice guitar.
7. This is a guitar that has the perfect balance of string height, nut height and string tension without buzzing on fairly low action. Great tone that is also unique. It just feels right in my hand and under my arm. Very versatile.

Re: Post your best player and why.

This is my only electric; it's the very last one I've consolidated down to (and will probably stay that way for a long time):
DSC2376.jpg

1. Make and model Gretsch G6136DSBK
2. Scale length 25.5''
3. Body wood, shape, Maple (fully hollow constuction), single cutaway
4. Neck/board wood, shape, etc Maple neck, ebony fingerboard. Medium C profile.
5. Pups, finish, frets, strings, nut, bridge, anything special about it. Stock DynaSonic pickups. I had the Space Control bridge pinned as opposed to floating.
6. Age, mojo, mileage It's only a few years old, but it's knocked out every other guitar I've owned including one very, very nice Fender CS Relic Tele.
7. What do you think makes it play so well It's a comfort thing. I really gravitate towards large guitars these days and the longer scale length keeps my large hands from cramping up during chord work.

Every time I look for another guitar to compliment it, I keep going back to the specs on this one and I can't find anything else that comes close for me. I consider myself fortunate enough to have found "my" dream guitar.

Re: Post your best player and why.

All of mine are the best. I've made sure that each one is setup to the best of it's ability. I can't choose one.

Re: Post your best player and why.

I try to rotate my 4 guitars so that I spend fairly equal time playing each of them or designate them via specific tonal qualities, but, that said, I find myself reaching for this one most of the time for a number of reasons; the incredible quarter-sawn maple neck with 12" Radius, Jumbo Frets, a super comfortable back shape, the tone of the mahogany body, the SD Pickups (particularly the JB/Custom Custom A2 Hybrid Trembucker, the DiMarzio 500K Push:Pull pot gives me the option of splitting the humbuckers so there is a variety of tonal options but...honestly...this one plays awesomely and really nails what I hear as EVH Tone with Maple Board, Bridge Pickup and Floyd...plays great, sounds great, feels great, looks great (all IMHO) so it's a KILLER Guitar all around and may truly be my #1.

2013 USACG/Warmoth Iceman: This is my EVH/Brown Sound Guitar, incredibly comfy neck, an Custom - Custom Build, USACG Quarter-Sawn Maple/Maple Fretboard Neck - 12” Radius, 22 Jumbo Frets, R2 1 5/8” Nut, Gotoh SG38 Tuners, Warmoth Mahogany Iceman Body in Pearl White, Seymour Duncan Jazz/JB-Custom Custom A2 Hybrid Trembucker, DiMarzio 500K Push:Pull Volume/3 Way LP Style Selector Switch/Fender TBX Tone x 2, Cup Jack, ’89 Ibanez Metal Pickup Mounting Rings and Vol/Tone/Tone Knobs, Recessed ’85 Original Floyd Rose w/Threaded Screw In Arm and 37mm Big Brass Block, DiMarzio Cliplock Black Strap

Re: Post your best player and why.

This guitar I just got done building is the best playing, not cause I built it but because when I did I was able to get the neck shape and thickness right where I wanted it, I spent a lot of time doing a fret job making the action low with hardly any buzz. I have others that play good like my les paul and a bc rich mockingbird, my others just play decent, but my next guitar will be another custom build for sure

Asking me to choose one over the rest is like asking me which one of my children is my favorite? I guess if I had to pick one it would be my 54 reissue, I've got it loaded with a lil 59 neck in the bridge & two SSL-1's in the middle & neck slots. compared to the rest of my guitars this one is actually kind of boring but to me it's just perfect in every way!

The lil 59N sounds great as a bridge pup, much closer to a full sized P.A.F. in my opinion, & who doesn't love SSL-1's? Aside from being a great sounding guitar this thing plays beautifully, it has a nice big vintage style beefy C profile neck & the action is super, super, low! Like you can barely slide a dollar bill between the frets low! Still not even a tiny bit of buzz!

Its not my best looker but it is one of those guitars that once you pick it up you just don't want to put it back down? I can play it for hours and it feels like I've been playing for a few minutes? Somehow the stars and planets just alined 11 years ago & Fender was able to put together the perfect guitar & then a few years later it happened again, this time I built the perfect guard for it! Sounds good out of any amp, super versatile, & truly a joy to have in your hands!!!

Re: Post your best player and why.

Gotta be a tie between these two.

Both pretty different but both are joy to play.
