Post your favourite combinations!

I'm not sure whether this has been done before, and if so, in the past - I wouldn't resurrect a long-forgotten thread... so:

What is everyones favourite pickup combinations, for what, and why?

and also, while I'm at it, what do you guys think of a Hot Rails neck, Little '59 mid and Invader bridge - the Invader is similar to a Hot Rails, right?

Re: Post your favourite combinations!

I don't have any experience with those pickups you are talking about in a guitar. My preferences in a three pickup guitar would be more traditional.

My favorite combo (this week): AIIpro neck / CC bridge. Warm, rich, plenty of power, but with a great vintage 70's vibe!

Re: Post your favourite combinations!

The Hot Rails in the neck will provide some excellent shred metal lead tones. The rhythms can be a little muddy if you don't eq your amp just right. I've got one in the neck matched up with a Cool Rails mid and Distortion bridge in my Charvel 650xl. It is a total shred machine. All three pickups match quite well in the output department. The little 59 is somewhat similar to the Cool Rails so I would think that having it in the mid would match up fairly well with the Hot Rails in the neck. I just prefer the CR.

I've got no real world experience with the Invader so I can't compare. Although I do have a Hot Rails in the bridge of another guitar and it is definitely not as bass heavy as an Invader would be.

Re: Post your favourite combinations!

Dimarzio PAF pro in neck, and Fred in bridge

that combo u suggested would sound really effed up, in a good way, like if tom delonge kicked BB King in the nuts while he was playing messed up

Re: Post your favourite combinations!

LP: ~8.70/7.70K ant hb's with a5 in the bridge and a3 in the neck,
strat: SD ant custom bridge; lindy fralin vintage hot neck and middle,
tele: either "SD JD lead and ant hb neck" or "fralin blues sp tele lead and van zandt vintage + strat s/c in the neck".

Why parts deserve a lengthy thread each! ;)
