Hehe I'm getting there as well...down to two guitars I play regulary, acoustic and my JB....
Love those pictures of that old thing Geoff:D

Thanks Niels…it's just had a service with a new set of Raw Vintage saddles, a new bone nut, fret dress and setup. Sounding and feeling better than ever!

Re: Post your main guitar

Can I play too? Y'all got some nice guitars up in here.

For bass, it's an 80's all-maple neck-thru P/J bass copy (says "JB Player" on the headstock anyway)
It sounds and plays so nice I'm afraid to take it apart to see what's "under the hood" so it's 100% stock.
For guitar, it's a 90's Epiphone SG-Jr. A bolt-on neck, even. I got it from a MARS music store in Minnesota when they were going out of business, so I paid $90 for it. I had planned on getting one before the store was closing out, but it was just good luck that I showed up to get this one. And I found out the painted ones were plywood, and the transparent ones were "real" wood, so even better.I've since replaced the tuners, the pots and the jack. I did have a Tone Pros bridge on it for a while, but it seemed to play better with the stock "lightning bolt" bridge on it. I also had gotten a P90 that cost more than the guitar itself did, but I put the stock one back in because it just sounded better with that one. (Ceramic P90s have a little more "sparkle" or high end or something than whatever is in fancy 90s. To me anyway)

It'd be amazingly hard to pick one main guitar between this, the Strat or the Albert Lee though.

1993 PRS CE24 MapleTop. Alder (not mahogany) body. Owned since 94. In 95 I replaced the rotary with a 3-way toggle and a pull coil tap on the tone control. In 2010 the neck was sanded and refinished using gun stock oil by a local luthier. Currently I have Dragon II pickups installed but am considering reloading the original VB/HFS set in it again.

this is the one I am playing the most at the moment. 1997 American Classic Custom Shop. Custom Shop 69 n/m and a SLS5 in the bridge. Ash body. Nice figuring in the neck. Hipshot locking tuners. The pickguard is from the Custom Shop in 94. The knobs were recently replaced by Knobeez ones which just came back into production.

my main axe, even if most people would say it's a cheap guitar (which isn't exactly wrong, but it's all I can spend right now) it's one of the best playing guitars I've ever played, even some 500-800€ guitars from friends did not feel close as good. 10-52, super nice low action without much buzz, SD SH-12b. I love flat/matte finishes. Amazing fretwork and neck. No flaws, good QC and some luck for me, I suppose.

Thinking about getting a Jazz soon for the neck, I'll need to get a good deal on one.

Re: Post your main guitar

haha, old-ass thread. The Strat I posted early is still my main at home and/or for writing, however this one suits the current band more so its my band-main.

Re: Post your main guitar

Lately it's been this guy. I've replaced the CS69s with Dimarzio Injectors temporarily, until I get another Strat for the injectors and return this one to its full late 60s glory. Being modern components it's dialed in for awesome playability.
