Post your main guitar

Re: Post your main guitar

Dude that sounds like an awesome pickup combo! Any clips? :D

Ha! You know, I didn't think I would be an all single coil guy either...but this thing with these pickups just jives with me.

I use to play a lot of Contemporary Christian and Bluesy Rock but now I've moved to more of softer Rock and Easy Listening with a heavy Acoustic influence...so my playing has toned down a bit.

No clips... only this goofy rehearsal vid and live videos :gurmpy: lol

My Gibson les paul traditional pro iii, with a 59 neck, and 59/c hybrid in the bridge. Absolutely killer guitar, plus the satin neck makes it feel even better to me!

Re: Post your main guitar

Hmmmm....I'm torn as to which one is my MAIN.
I use them for such different purposes. Treblemaker does bluesy real well, along with zztop and Clapton. Notice I say the GUITAR does those things well.. Me, not so much. LOL The Ibby is more for Def Leppard, ACDC, GnR, and other heavier stuff that I fail miserably at.

Re: Post your main guitar

1997 US Washburn MG130 (Stevie Salas Sig model) The winning formula is it is essentially a strat shaped LP with a floyd.. Mahog body/set mahog neck, 24.75" scale, Schaller floyd. Stock with cool rails/cool rails/JB. The black one has a Custom 8 in the bridge, large brass block on the trem and is getting a push pull to split the cool rails. Best of all worlds to me..

I keep going back to my Charvels and explorer, but the shorter scale of this guitar gives me the slinky feel and comfort of a traditional shape..

WHY HAS NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS MODEL BEFORE?! :poed:

Granted, I have my 750 now, but still....

Right now I'm playing my MIJ Jackson Dinky pro the most...but that's partly because my Ibanez S-540LTD Sabre needs a string change pretty badly :lmao:

Re: Post your main guitar

I like this thread. I see the pics I posted a couple years ago dissapeared, so I'll post again...
I keep thinking I need something different, so I get a project guitar and take months to finish it. I play that for a while, and go back to this guy:

I then think I need something different, get a project guitar, take a couple months to finish it, play it for a while, and go back to this...
Lather, rinse, repeat.
It's a mid-90's "Squier Series" MIM Strat with the neck from my early-mid 80's JB Player and 70's grey-bottom Strat pups. The wiring has a push-pull volume to add the neck pup in and a push-pull middle tone to put all 3 pups in series. Oh, and a big brass trem block. WHatever I've bought/made/borrowed is nice, but picking this thing up is like putting on that perfectly-worn-in pair of boots, it's just perfect.
If I'm bassin' it up, it's still my 80's JB-Player neck-thru P/J bass

Maple neck-thru, "soft maple" body wings, EMG Select pups (I know, everybody hates them in guitars, but their bass pups are awesome) I bought a Gotoh 201 bridge to replace the cheap stock bridge, but I just don't want to take this apart for long enough to install it.
So yeah, black Fender copies. I'm so boring...

Re: Post your main guitar

Thank you. Nobody else who's seen it, has said anything...
The back is just as cool as the front...

Heeeh, I looked through that photo album and it just dawned on me - that bass is what KITT from Knight Rider would loke like if it was an instrument. You should put in some red LEDs, man :bigthumb:

Re: Post your main guitar

Is (or WAS) that a Bullet? WHat is going on with the electronics? EMG plus a bunch of switch options? Inquiring minds want to know! (I like it!)

highly modded MIK 1994 Squire Bullet

originally she looked like this

added a v trem with a blass block, locking tuners, black roller string trees real strat pickplate that i had to mod a bit to work, ebony bell knobs, neck back plate, and black screws though out. Stilll need to install an LSR nut i have and to do as fret level. Also might add a phase switch for the neck as well as a middle tap if i go with a smoke stack

The electronics are all passives but have plastic covers to give it a slicker look IMO..Im also planning to go metal black covers eventually.. The humbuckers are from a company from the UK called Iron Gear,
Also the electronics cavities have been shielded too

A HOT SLAG in the bridge
http://www.irongear.co.uk/irongear_pickups_008.htm
Rolling Mills .. Ive heard people compare this 'pup to an SD '59
http://www.irongear.co.uk/irongear_pickups_011.htme

and the middle is a SD designed by SD-101 which probably be rep[laced with a iron Gear pup in the future. probably a pig iron or smoke stack II

now to the wiring..
master volume/master tone
The 5 way is wire up traditionally n/n+m/m/m+b/b
mini- switch 1= series/split/parallel for the neck
mini- switch 2=series/split/parallel for the bridge
toggle= kill switch

master volume push/pull= (pull) bridge always on
master tone= DMT or dual mode tone

Re: Post your main guitar

Very cool! Do you use the middle pup (by itself) a lot? I seem to not use the middle on my Strats unless I have all 3 going... I checked out the Iron Gears and they look very interesting. Thanks for the heads up on those.

My Dean Custom 550. This is an old(ish) pic, I swapped out the EMGs for blackouts a while ago and made this thing a whole lot better. Of the two guitars I currently have, this is the go to instrument.
