Most mind blowing pinch harmonics are at the very end of Gary Moore's solo in "rockin' every night" off Corridors of Power....find it...listen...and weep....

I use a lot as well...but I don't have any clips..sorry :(

Yeah, those guys are harmonics monsters as well. That kick-a$$ Sykes harmonic at the intro of "Still of the Night" always kicks my a$$.

Hey, anyone remember that for awhile Gary Moore was sorta metal? I remember this really really good tape I had of him, oh... circa 1982 or 83, it had a cover of "Change of Things (I think that was the title... someone help me out)." Man, that tape rocked. Have to add that to the 2nd hand store list.

I must admit the Flextone has been real good to me. It's perfect for my situation. I live in a small house with two young children and a wife who doesn't go for all that loud rock and roll.

It is the Anti-Osbournes at my house. I have to do all my own yardwork.

So, the Flex does real good in this situation, I can get all kinds of useful tones. I think the direct-in recording is a real powerful feature of the flex. That last clip was straight in, and I thought that tonally, it sounded pretty okay considering that I didn't tweak the tone a bit. It doesn't come out all compressed and processed sounding like you hear some line-ins doing. I just plugged in and went for it. From what I hear, the Vetta is a much nicer big brother to the Flex, with much better modeling. Someday I'm gonna get that Silver Jubilee, but I don't think I'll ever part with my Flex as long as it's working. The recording feature is just too good.

sounds good....i like the direct recording feature as well..but I always have a bitch of a time getting a good direct recording tone..maybe with the new sound card comming with my new pc (due tomorrow) that'll helpthings out..who knows =)

I had tons of big ass tube amps over the years, and I'll take the vetta over the ones I had any day...i get much better tones out of it, and it holds gain and low volumes..so u don't have to blow the windows out =)

funny thing..my name's matt too..lol

Heh..I'm still living in the 80's, The only Gary Moore I know IS a Metal guitarist, either solo or with Thin Lizzy. That whole blues thing has just been a very, very bad dream :laugh2:

The song you are referring to is a cover of the Yardbirds' "Shapes of Things" from the album Victims of the Future (released in 1983). Corridors of Power was the album previous to that, and I highly suggest you check out it, as well as "We Want Moore", a live album from the VotF tour. If you think the studio version of Shapes of Things was good, wait till you hear the extended solo in the live version.

Yessss! Well, I got the year right at least. I can't remember my anniversary, but I can remember which year that Gary Moore tape came out. I'll be scrounging around for both of those CD's now. Thanks.

ok, here's two clips actually...

the first one was done at practice last night...with my amp mic'd up....didn't have the amp cranked so it doesn't sound too open..at least, not to me =)

the second one was done direct recorded about a month back...totally forgot I had it..lol...some harmonics action in there too....

enjoy

ps--for those of you with good ears, you'll notice that I'm in dire need of new strings..hahah

Re: Post your Most Kick-A$$ Harmonics!!!!

old school GARY MOORE is all that i live for that stuff don't forget run for cover or after the war are good stuff as well!

Re: Post your Most Kick-A$$ Harmonics!!!!

Shreder75,, nice clips man. If you had a screamin' tube amp that sh1t would be the sh1t...LOL. Time to trade up to something meatier I think.

Shreder, that smoked! Very nice legato, and killer A$$-Kicking harmonics galore. I can tell you've studied your EVH and GL.

Man, the talent I hear on this board continues to astound me. Nice work! Thanks for the contribution.

I was jammin' at work the other day at lunch, and someone said, "what are you doing working here?" I said, "you should hear some of my friends... I got nothin' man!"

thanks dude...I really appreciate it =) I'm pretty low key about my playing...we're always our own worst critics =) but there's two things I'm somewhat proud of..my vibrato, and my harmonics..lol...the jury's still out on everything else..lol..

yeah, I'm a huge GL fan...as you see in my signature, I have his ESP model ;)

yeah, there's always someone right around the corner who can humble a person..lol...

thanks dude..much appreciated =)

you know, it's funny you should mention the whole amp thing....I had tons of tube amps over the years..none of which I were every happy with..of course I wasn't gigging out..just playing in the bedroom..so having 200+ watt tube heads/half stacks probably wasn't the right way to go...have to crank em and I woulda blown out the windows..hehe...

so eventually I got the vetta and was pretty happy with it...got more of 'my sound' outta that amp than any other amp I owned previously...

now that I'm practicing with the band and whatnot...I'm starting to re think the thing..I like the sound of the amp, but as far as gettin' it to cut through and sit well in the mix..well, needless to say I have alotta work to do..on the vetta boards, I hear clips of guys playing out live that sound great all the time...I think the sound's there, I just haven't uncovered it yet....I'm not totally disappointed with the vetta...it really is a great amp with the amount of versatility...it just sometimes takes alotta work to get 'that sound' because of the multitudes of options available...we'll see...I'm not going ot make any snap decisions...gigging out won't be for awhile..so I have plenty of time to do what I gotta do to get where I gotta get! lol...

thanks again man =)

That's something I'm up against. I honestly have explored very little past the hi-gain and Fender Reverb models. Just not enough time.

IMO Gary was in his prime during the Corridors of Power through Wild Frontier years. So many memorable tunes and stellar playing from each album. ATW had some great playing but his creativity was starting to go downhill most of the tracks on that album sounded like songs he had done before. I can understand his wholesale abandonment of Hard Rock after that.

Sorry for the threadjack folks :D

Back on topic...Anyone check out the solo I mentioned above from Gary? Also check out The Same Thrill from the Scorpions (Love at First Sting). Mathias Jabs had the coolest piercing/crying/screaming artificial harmonics that never sounded harsh.
