Pot and Knob Replacement Question...

Gents, a question for some of the more experienced of you....

I just bought a CS4 from Carvin (A LP or PRS SC style guitar, really more like the SC250 then a LP)....

Currently it has chrome knobs and I would like to put amber bell knobs on the guitar, also currently both Tone Pots are push/pull pots splitting the buckers... I would like to keep this functionality but switch to CTS pots as I think they will have a more usable sweep then the stock carvin pots....

So a few questions...
1. Do I need short or long shaft pots...
2. Where is the best place online to purchase them that you guys are familiar with?
3. split or solid?
4. Is there any other info I should take into consideration since I have never modded anything but a strat before... this is my first LP style guitar...

(Yes, I have good soldering skills just in case anybody was wondering that)

IIRC, CTS no longer makes push-pull pots. http://shop.wymoreguitars.com sells quality alpha push pulls though, along with a variety of orange drop and PIO caps. you'd be able to tell what size shafts you need for your pots if you unscrew your current ones and have a look split should work well, and modding your guitar should not be very hard as you're only replacing the pots and two push pulls aren't the most complicated thing to deal with, especially if all you're doing is coil splits.

I'd say probably long shaft. The short shaft pots are for pots that are being mounted to a pickguard or a control plate, and long shafts pots are for those going through body wood.

Also, allow me to recommend Stewart-Macdonald potentiometers. They are the most responsive pots with the best sweep I've used, and I've used Alpha, CTS, Fender, et al.
