Pot gone bad, or just wired badly?

I just scored a used P-bass with a Quarter Pounder in it. Sounds PHAT.

There is no hum or buzz when the volume is on 10, but I notice some buzzing as the volume is rolled down. It is almost as if the pot is leaking the some ground signal into the hot signal instead of only throwing hot signal to ground. Is it a bad pot, solder joint bad, or is this typical?

I guess I could swap the pot out pretty easily, but I need to practice playing it instead of taking it apart :) Just curious what you guys would expect the cause to be?

Re: Pot gone bad, or just wired badly?

With the volume rolled down and the buzz present, does it lessen or go away when you touch the volume knob or the pot shaft? If so that points to a bad ground connection on the pot, reflowing solder on the ground point will most likely correct the issue then

It goes away again at 0. Buzz is only theor from 8 to 2. Weird
