Modern Gibsons - 300k vol, 500k tone
Vintage Gibson - 500k all around
Vintage LP Jr - 500k vol, 250k tone
Vintage LP Special - ???

I want to know if vintage LP Specials (2 P90s) were all 500k, 250k on tone, or something else and I can't find the answer anywhere. Help me out!

Re: Pot values for Les Paul Jr/Special

I see newer model used Les Paul Jr's going in the $500 range on Craigslist around here. Pot value is around $35 a quarter or $120 an ounce here. Being a Gibson, you could probably get the "bulk" discount of $350 per quarter pound so that would place the pot value for a Gibson Les Paul Jr around 5 or 6 ounces.

Does that convert to heroin at all, or is that just a Fender thing? (I'm looking at you, Keef Wichads)

If the Special does indeed have 500k all around, wouldn't that be an interesting contributor to the difference in tone between the two models? I mean, everyone is always going on about how Juniors have this mojo over the dual P90 models, maybe rather than the one pickup mystique it's just a difference in pot values?

IMO the main difference is that on Juniors the P-90 is screwed directly into the body, the Specials aren't.
