i need a little help with understanding pot values and what their effect is on the tone of single coil pickups, i know that the common pot for single coils is 250k but what does 500k or 1meg do to the tone?

Re: pot values for single coils?

A 500k volume pot will make the pickup sound brighter... with my single coils I use a 250k tone pot and a 500k volume pot...

You're right, 250k is the common value for single coils.

I always use 250k for single coils and 500k for humbuckers...Though I once tryed using a 250k with a very bright PG+ pickup in the bridge of my strat...

how do you like this combination the 250t and the 500v, and if the higher value pots make it brighter couldnt you counter the tone with a capacitor?
