Pots and pickups - could they be different?

I use SH-1 and SH-4 pickups on my LP, which have a very different resistance values (7.43k for the SH-1 v. 16.4k for the SH-4).

Question: would it make sense to use different volume and/or tone pots for each pickup? Like, 250K for one pickup and a 500k for the other? Which one would work best?

Thanks.

Re: Pots and pickups - could they be different?

in my HSS strats i have a 500k volume for the HB and 250k for the SCs. i just posted a thread about using a 1 meg volume for a HB and someone mentioned it could brighten a darker (higher resistance) HB. as a bare minimum i think HBs shine with 500k or higher pots. lower resistance pots will soak up some tone.

You could if you really wanted to/felt the need to. There's nothing that says you can't.

I'd be inclined to use the 250k for the JB. I don't much like it with 500k pots.
