I was being facetious. It seems I getting some negative feedback from some members that assume I should know better. I enjoy these forums and I learn a lot from the discussions.
I'm most definitely a student and no where near a professor.

FWIW, I've never had a pickup that was loose in it's mount and squealed...
I asked earlier in this thread but what gain levels are we talking about here???

Sorry I did'nt see that.
High gain channel on a Peavey 6505 120 watt head.
I get there will be feedback but this is squeal.

Thats a fair bit of gain...at loud volume and in small rooms there could still be issues but it's worth a shot!

The owner of this pup may want to save it for recording someday, yet it may be unusable live.
Anyways, the option that I didn't see mentioned here is to simply mail the pickup to MJ at the Custom Shop and have her make you another one that is wax potted, yet sounds similar. I doubt it would cost that much money. Maybe twice what an off the shelf SD costs. You can always call the Custom Shop and talk to them about it. This certainly wouldn't be the first PAF / PAT pickup that they cloned.
(I'll call this the "Have your Cake and Eat it too" option.)
