I dont understand this stuff all that well but here is my question.

Will an 80w Bandit have enough power for a 4x12 cab with scorpion speakers. I understand the onboard speaker has to be disconnected. Dont care about how it will sound, just if it will work.

Power question

It will work. Probably be decently loud. Wouldn't be any louder than the combo but it may feel a bit louder because of increased cone space.

Re: Power question

I agree with the perceived loudness. Honestly, if its as loud as the combo, Ill be perfectly happy. Those little buggers are LOUD.

Re: Power question

Power isn't the issue to be concerned with, impedance is. You can power that cab with a 5 watt head and you'll be surprised at how loud it is. One watt to each speaker (4 watts total) will typically produce 98 to 102 db measured at 3 ft. depending on speaker efficiency.

Agreed but impedance isn't as big of a deal with solid state amps. It will effect output but won't damage the amp. And at 80w, even a small loss from impedance mismatch won't be detrimental.

Impedance other than what the ss amp was designed for certainly can damage the amp. And even more so than with a tube amp.
