Power supplies?

Re: Power supplies?

I'll start looking for a replacement although it took a while to find this one. The form factor and outputs were perfect for me.

Good luck with MXR.

The same, it was actually the perfect supply for me. Ah well.

I've not heard anything yet. I'm led to believe that their response times are generally good but I'll wait and see. I have a gig next Sunday so I'm going to have to skin down my board entirely and just rely on a couple of Boss PSUs or whatever I have laying around really.

Re: Power supplies?

Wow, just wow about the mxr. So bummed for you guys.

Looks like the truetone is a good one then? I just want something to keep from having to change batteries (I only have two 9v pedals right now, but I love the idea of a PS that has a real a/c connector.....less possible noise and all.)

No it not. ;)

CIOKS is also a good company. I really like that he admits some of his are toroidal and some are simply switched supplies. I'm still partial to Voodoo Lab, but am probably going to try a DC-5 for my mini board.

I see some 18v ports on that Overkill, which would come in handy.

Re: Power supplies?

This looks like a good idea- it tells exactly what your pedals are drawing.

I don't really see the point since, I think, the specs are published. But I guess if you were worried about overloading a PS outlet or a supply, it could be a useful tool. You could probably do the same thing with a Kill A Watt meter. Although, maybe not because they may not be very accurate at measuring real low current draw like that of most, small analog pedals. Plus, you would have to unplug every pedal except for the one you are checking. I have one, I should try it for kicks. https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Ele...1496322424&sr=8-1&keywords=kill-a-watt+meters

Re: Power supplies?

I wish I had an isolated power supply which had two or more 18v 300ma jacks. Of all the PPSU's I've seen, not one of them has an 18v output with a current draw of more than 100ma.

The Truetone 1 Spot Pro CS 12 has 2x 18V outlets labeled 100ma. But for the One Spot Pro's, Truetone claims that you can exceed the ma rating of the ports as long as you don't exceed the total ma capacity of the entire supply.

"•Note: Outputs 1-11 can each handle more than the stated mA number. However, it is important to never exceed the max. current rating of all outputs simultaneously."
