My Sovtek Mig-60 has been blowing fuses lately and i went to investigate why. when i did, i noticed that the power tubes are dying.. my first question is if this would be the reason for the fuses blowing?

Thanks

Yes....Bad power tubes will cause your fuse to blow and it's supposed to....If you retube be sure to have your power tubes biased...

Re: Power Tube questions

Bad tubes, or any other failing component in a tube amp, can cause the amp to try to "work harder" to compensate for the failure and drawe more voltage. The fuse blows when the amount of voltage the amp is drawing will harm the components inside.

Replace the tubes and get them rebiased. :)

Re: Power Tube questions

Thanks a lot guys, that takes a load off my mind.. i didn't realize how old the tubes were so when the amp was blowing fuses i automatically thought power transistor.. which is bad news for a sovtek cause finding a tech that will mess with it is hard around here
