Powerblock

Re: Powerblock

So you are saying the powerblock will sound good, if somewhat bland and never die, and the bassman will sound awesome, but break down all the time........

Tube amps DO take a bit more maintanence, just like those old muscle cars.

Man, my cousin owned tons of Chevys for YEARS and he had to fix those things every single weekend, and sometimes more. MOPARs were no worse off, if you ran them for any length of time. Stuff just wears out, or that nice new high-performance widget you just put in breaks something further down the line.

Re: Powerblock

I own one and it was my idea for a backup. Originally I had a lot of gigs and was running a 73 Marshall into a 1x12 C90 Mesa Widebody Theile, and the PB gave me peace of mind.

Now I kept it because the prices went down lol AND it still is a good backup to my 2 fave current rigs.

I agree with the assessment of its tone. I would like to add that the Mesa Recto 2x12 and its wide, dark, thick tone and V30s works best with the PB from what I have seen. I would also say Celestion G12K-85s work decently, as they were a popular 1980s choice of OEMs pairing it with solid state amps.
