Powering the Clapton Mid-boost

I have the Clapton Mid-boost fitted to my G&L Legacy. There's not a great deal of room under the scratch-plate, so I've had to slightly modify the circuit board to fit in between the bridge & middle pickups. The 9v battery sits between the middle & neck pickups. Obviously in order to change the battery, I have to remove the scratch-plate completely, which is a bit of a pain. I was looking into coming up with some sort of rechargeable solution, maybe using micro USB connectors, when I came across the Fishman Fluence rechargeable battery for Strats.

Is there any reason why this wouldn't do the job?

Of course, if anybody has a cheaper solution, I'm all ears!

You can also power the electronics by using a phantom power box. You would use a stereo cable to deliver both power and signal. The tip on the stereo cable delivers signal and the first sleeve connection delivers power to the circuitry and ring provides the ground. You can buy one here or you can build one. All you need is a 1 mono jack, 1 stereo jack, a battery clip and a small project box. I built mine for under $10.

***Sleeve is mislabeled in this diagram and is really the ring which is the main ground.

The Fluence back plate will work. Also, you can rout out a little more of the spring cavity and put the battery there, wrapped in foam with a back cover.

Here's how you can rewire the guitar to use phantom power. It looks like the guitar already has a stereo jack. All you would need to do is remove the battery clip and swap the sleeve and ring wires from the original schematic. Tip provides the signal, ring provides the ground and sleeve provides power via a stereo cable.

i dont use the trem so i blocked it and put the battery in the trem cavity. makes changing the battery simple

Yeah, I thought about that, but I do like to have the trem available.
