Pre-cut nut slots

Hi everyone. A couple weeks ago I purchased a pre-cut nut. The problem that I'm having with it, is that it's pre-cut for 9 guage strings apparently. Is there any way I could fix this problem without completely changing the nut? And does anybody know where you can get a precut nut that's for 10 guage strings?

Pre-cut nuts still need to be cut properly. Those slots are there only as a guide.

That's pretty much the size of it. I've gotten a couple necks from Warmoth with pre-slotted nuts installed, and they were both playable as delivered, but it's a long way down to the first fret!

It's a lot easier than starting with an unslotted nut though.

If you are a lifelong player, you would do well to buy some nut files and learn how to use them. You will be amazed at your own abilities if you give yourself a chance. They aren't cheap, but will pay for themselves after a few uses- and your guitars will play better.

BTW.. Hi Pete! :fart:

That is all the slots are! A pre-cut and slotted nut still needs plenty of work for it to be correct for your exact guitar.
