Pre-preamp?

I have a Peavey rockmaster preamp, and I am wondering if it can be used as a pre-amp in an amp that already has a pre-amp, instead of only with a power amp?

Re: Pre-preamp?

Yeah if the amp is running clean you're fine. I've got a whole rack full of preamps that feed my '68 Fender Showman head, which is a preamp/power amp head. I like it better than a tube power amp because of that preamp up front. It adds a sense of realism to the tones, and provides some final "amp" tone shaping after the preamp gives me the main overdrive tone.
