Preamp installation problem (STC-3P)

Hello, this is a Seymour Duncan Bass Lines STC-3P Preamp i'm installing on a Ibanez SR 405 with passive pickups, everything is wired perfectly and exactly as the seymour duncan diagram shows, and i'm not getting any sound, so here's a list of things i've checked out:

-All grounds are connected

-All pots connected correctly according to the diagram

-Tried with new battery, output jack

-Rewired the entire preamp again just in case

-Tested the pickups direct to the jack to discard defective pickups, and they sounded ok

-Changed battery clip

Still i'm not getting any sound, so at this point what could be wrong? any suggestions? thanks

Re: Preamp installation problem (STC-3P)

What type or jack socket does the Ibanez have? If it has the barrel type through the wood, you need to check that you have connected the three lugs in the correct order.

Other possibilities include the block connectors on the PCB not being clicked fully home or no power to the PCB.

Yes the output jack is the barrel type, Hot is connected to the smaller lug, ground from battery clip to the middle heigh lug, ground from pot cases to the bigger lug, any way just in case i also tried to reverse all this connections and nothing happened!

Re: Preamp installation problem (STC-3P)

Why do you have grounds connected at two different lugs? Is that a function of plug-inserted=preamp-on?

Correct.

The connections are;
Tip = Hot
Ring = Battery ground ("switch")
Sleeve = System ground.

The problem with the "barrel" type jack socket is that the lengths of the three terminals does not correspond to the respective heights found on a Switchcraft TRS socket.

I'm still not getting sound :( ... i have a multimeter, there's some way i can test the preamp alone or something?

Re: Preamp installation problem (STC-3P)

I have encountered the same problem and have an additional question: where do I connect the ground (green) outputs from the Pickups? The wiring diagram only states where the hot (black) outputs need to go?

Re: Preamp installation problem (STC-3P)

The ground wires from the stock Ibanez pickups should be soldered to the chassis of a pot or, if necessary, to the jack socket.

With the STC system, the problem is that the volume pot has a push-pull switch underneath it. The balance pot is already crawling with connections and its underside has a plate that turns with the pot shaft. There are not many obvious points to which to solder.
