Re: Preferred Guitar Nut Material?
To be honest with you.... I am not sure whether my statement is accurate. The graphtech website does not say that Tusq is graphite, what it does say is it is a made of proprietary material(?) black Tusq is impregnated with Teflon so they would appear to be better for an electric guitar. not sure what they white is made from. I assumed it was graphite but I could be mistaken.
Edit: Email response from Graphtech!
Thank you for the email. Although our company was founded with the original designs in graphite (hence the name), we soon discovered that there was a much better option.
TUSQ is our own patented man-made ivory material, designed for maximum vibration transfer and increased harmonic content.
TUSQ XL & Black TUSQ XL is the same but with PTFE added (generic name for Teflon) as it is 500 times slipperier than graphite.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Best regards
If tusq is just plain white graphite, then how come there is a black tusq? Wouldnt it just be graphite?

I was thinking that tusq was more a synthetic alternative to bone.
