Re: Price check
Depending on the extent of the original damage, a quality repair done correctly can leave the headstock as durable as original condition. But a clean looking repair done incorrectly or with the wrong adhesive can leave the guitar in a precarious position and vulnerable to rebreak.
Keep in mind that this type of repair (if not done properly), will not just affect the looks or sound of the guitar (as a finish repair) if it breaks again, but will render it useless (if the head breaks off). And there are no guarentees!! You take the liability if it breaks. That's some serious liability if you're in the middle of an important gig. I will not buy a guitar with a headstock repair for more than 1/2 of the otherwise reasonable value. But that's just me. Others may offer 2/3 to 3/4 of the unbroken/repaired value.
So, if it wasn't broken and it would be worth $1000, the repaired LP would be worth $500-750.
