amp guys help me out here

say im using a pair of 6L6gc tubes, what difference will i notice with an output transformer with 4k vs 6k primary?

Re: primary impedance/tubes

I understand your question, But I'm not sure if I have the technical answer your looking for? Most 6L6 OTs are rated at around 4k while 6V6 OTs run around 6k. The deluxe OT I got from triode claims it will run 6L6's, But only under 25 watts. So if I understand correctly? The lower the impedance, The more current the tube see's the more power/output you will have.

Re: primary impedance/tubes

what about tone? ive heard from people that using a 6k primary with 6l6's will produce more even order harmonics.

less volume but richer tone with the 6k?

edit: i just talked to a local amp guy and to paul at MM and both said that the 4k will be a little louder but the 6k will have more low order harmonics
