Watch Prince tear it up on SNL with an XSSIVE style Stratocaster! Floyd, double bridge pickup, maple board, 1 volume knob & 1 tone knob! His music is likely not your style but, alright Mike, when did you hook Prince up with the killer Strat? ;)

Woah, I didn't realize he was such a good guitarist. :eek13:

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

I caught the second preformance he did and it was boring to the max! He danced around a bit and had the girl singing for him. I new prince was a good guitar player and I wanted to see him in action, but instead I got some chick singing and a price lap dance. She was a good singer though, but still I would have rather heard some guitar.

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

I've never seen anyone so comfortable with playing guitar and singing at the same time and do each of them as good as if they weren't doing the other.

Same here. If his pedalboard's the same as the past few years, he's rollin' with all Boss, too. And a Crybaby, I think. :omg:

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

The guy is a freakin showman to the max. One of the best showmen of our time IMO. And, hey, my old history of rock and roll teacher used to play drums for him :smokin: .

Haha what rock have you guys been living under??
Prince rips when he wants!

What he said... I've known about Prince's guitar abilities for a while now.

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

I'm with Rid and B2D. Come on people. :laugh2: I've known he can rip since the 80's. He just wasn't recognized a lot for his guitar playing skills as much as songwriting. I've seen some live footage of him where he tears it up with another guitar player in his live band. Both of them just went shred crazy.

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

yeah ive known he was good. hes got such charisma on stage though. he just exudes so much confidence and stage presence i envy him incredibly. ive heard him go nuts before on guitar, and other people have told me that at some of his concerts he goes over to other instruments and plays incredible solos on them as well. my uncle was telling me that he can play good drum solos as well. hes definitely an incredibly talented and versatile musician.

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

The solo at the end of "Let's Go Crazy" put my Prince hating ways to rest a long, long time ago.

That SNL song is freakin' awesome by the way. I thought he was going to do that song with the gay-ass video on MTV/VH1..."Te Amo Corazon" or whatever...

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

well he may be a bit strange but he has good taste in guitars and sure can play!! oh and i think i have that same strap around here somewhere also LOL. (or one similar)

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

I saw Prince last year in Atlanta and was blown away...one of the best shows I have EVER seen and FWIW...those S/H Floyd Rose strats see lots if live use...he has 5 or 6 of them all the same...

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

I don't care who you are. Prince is a good guitarist. I caught this performance saturday night and liked it a lot.

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

When he and George Harrison were inducted into the Hall of Fame, his soloing on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" blew me away. I remember thinking that if they ever need a score for a Hendrix movie, Prince should do it!

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

Prince played every instrament on his "1999" album. At least that is what was broadcast all over MTV when it came out. He was just starting to gain some notice as a great guitarist when he started doing all that stupid crap like "Raspberry Beret" and "Kiss". Lost all credibility with the guitarists I knew at the time, LOL. I always dug his stuff, but I wish he would have taken a different path.

Re: Prince Gets "XSSIVE" on SNL

I should have turned off my movie sooner. It sounds like the first act was way better than the second.
