Princton Chorus noisey tonight

I'm a fan of high gain amps, so since about 1988 i have been using Fender Princton Chorus amps for bedroom practices... Not amazing amps but for low volume high gain they were pretty cool in their day before modeling amps came along.

Anyways i still use a Princton Chorus in my room a fair bit among other practice amps. My current one is about 8 years old... I bought it new... i have never turned it up extremely loud really.. I have tube amps for that.... It has seen lots of hours of use....

Tonight i had the house to myself and i plugged in and started playing along to a Journey cd.... when i stopped playing i noticed the amp was kind of noisey. More so then any other night.... I changed my cord, same thing... i changed my guitar to another simular model.... Extra noise still there... then i pulled the guitar cable out of the jack on the amp, and with no cord in the front of the amp i can tell there is some extra hum that is not normally happening with this amp.... Normally with no cord it is dead silent. Just a slight hiss that all SS highgain Fender amps give off without a cord pluggged in

I plugged back in and walked around a little and the noise would get stronger in some areas and not in others.... it sounds like 60cycle hum but i have humbuckers...

This is strange.... either something in the house is interfering with this gear or the amp is getting worn out.... I figure there is interference... i've looked high and low.. there really is nothing new in the house besides the computer modem... i turned it off and the interference is still there.... this is so strange!

Another thing i was wondering is maybe the voltage coming into the house from the street is not at full juice... i heard that can cause noise...

i hate this.... I hope that amp isn't in need of repair... i was getting ready to sell it for funds towards a VOX Modeler

Re: Princton Chorus noisey tonight

I've had this happen before and someone at work suggested maybe someone near me is using a ham radio... They are said to cause interference, wonder if that's true
