probably a redundant question

this question has probably been asked a thousand times, but what kind of pickups would some of you guys suggest I get? I have a late 80's les paul studio, I play a lot of classic rock and blues. (like led zeppelin, black sabbath, but older 60's bands too). I looking for a bridge pickup that is good for pinch harmonics. one that will make them really scream. neck pickup, I guess a good bluesy tone.

okay now I'll list my gear stats.

amp- fender stage 112

guitar- late 80's lp stuido

effects I use- a vox wah, and an old big muff

Just about any combination of 59/59, JB/59, JB/Jazz, maybe even a Custom/59 if you want something a little hotter.

I use a C5 in the bridge of a L.P., and it'll do classic rock to metal, no problem. If you are looking to increase your pinch harmonics, maybe consider an upgrade to a gainy-er pedal. Just my 2c.

I should probably add that I would also like a sort of Brian May type sound, although I've read most of his sound is from his amps

I don't have a JB, but from what I'm understanding, that might be a good choice. I have experience with Pearly Gates, and although I dig my PGs, I think you sound like you want something more than that. Maybe a JB in combination with a C5. Good luck.

Most of those classic rock tunes were recorder with vintage output pickups. If your technique is good, you can get good harmonics on any pickup, you don't need high output. I would suggest a '59 bridge and an Alnico II Pro neck. If you want more output from the bridge, go with a Custom 5 or JB.

my two favorite combinations are Jazz/JB and '59/Distortion, look at my sig
