Bar chords giving you a hard time. Just takes practice and some good instruction. Check out this video:

Let me forewarn you. The language is sometimes very expressive and not always in good taste. However, he is teaching good technique. This might be worth your while to study.
If you need help with progressions, look at a book called Fret Board Roadmaps. It covers basic scales and position playing. It is a real treasure in the chords and progression dept. The author also lays out the cycle of fifths on the keyboard. Learning his method did really helped improve my playing and learning songs by ear.
Check out Disraeli Gears by Cream. Here you will find Sunshine of Your Love. Also there is another overlooked musical gem and is an easy to learn song - Outside Woman Blues. And the lead to this song is Clapton at his precise best.
