problem with my sound(s) its just awful

Re: problem with my sound(s) its just awful

Sigh... Just listen to Dominus. Worse case scenario, throw an eq in the loop.

Re: problem with my sound(s) its just awful

1. the amp is some is 4 Month old!
2. The Lead Channel (3rd ) sounds not as good as i expected!
The mids sounds dirty, not fat and doesn't make the Sound "clearer"
the higher freq and like too hard with the precense but without it it sounds muddy(wwell try a Metal tone without enough highs
3. My Guitar will be back in a few days
4. My Eq settings thats work somehow are: Gain 3,5-6 Low 7-8 MId 4-5 high 6 presence 0-2 resonance noon
5. The band sounds bad not even acceptable. It will not be that amp thats make the Sounds i want

How loud are you playing when using the amp? 5150s need to be opened up a bit to sound decent. Also more mids aren't always the way to go if you have to much midrange dialed in your tone can become muddy and cloudy or as you said "dirty".

OP

TURN DOWN THE BASS!!!!

The #1 deficiency I believe you are hearing compared to that video is the band "context". A specific tone will not necessarily sound good on it's own in your bedroom. Many people dislike the JB for that very reason. In a band context though...it's a thing of beauty. At the end of the day a guitar is a midrange focused instrument and must be treated as such. You MUST have highs, mids, and some type of presence to get your sound "out there". Vintage 30s sound very different in a bedroom than they sound in a band context. If you don't play with a want or don't see yourself playing with a band Jolly's advice will do you wonders.

Listen to Dominus on your personal EQing...but for a rough kneejerk EQ-ing set the knobs like the face of a clock as follows:
Bass at 10-11 o'clock
Mids at 9-10 o'clock
Treble at 1-2 o'clock
Presence at 11 o'clock
Resonance barely on for now.

That said...get the distortion pedals out of your chain. It's a 5150 for goodness sake. You can use a compressor or boost to tighten up the sound but a distortion pedal is going to make it sound like a steaming turd. In fact, have you run it completely dry? By that I mean no pedals at all.

As an aside, if you're just running distortion boxes into the clean channel sell the amp, get a Fender Super Reverb and a Box of Metal or Bogner Uberschall pedal, and then call it a day.
