Hi fi stream

Lo fi stream

Theres the occasional odd time signature bar in there. The 7/8 bar threw me everytime... :smack:

I wrote the drums and (ashamadly) the strings.. need to figure how to sort that strings sound out in sibelius :alcoholic

what you guys think?

Re: Prog riff

Your tone F*ing rules..and what are you using for the drums and strings?

the strings were a little on the chees side :laugh2: and kinda drowned out the geetar but cool riff..

Very, progressive one might say..

Re: Prog riff

Well I score out the drums and strings in sibelius, and then play it in sibelius (midi) on my keyboard, but run a guitar cable from the headphone out to my PC to record in audio.

Re: Prog riff

Ah I see. you do it the non- lazy way..if it were I i'd just programm it into a synth and let it do the playing, although it might have something to do with me not being able to play piano or sight read..or read simple music.

I applaud you nuni!! :laugh2:

Re: Prog riff

Sibelius is playing them ;)

I can "play" piano though, not so well but i can. Theres a piece called short ballad (on my soundclick site). Ok sibelius is playing that too (but for ease of recording)... but i can play it.. and theres a piano shred thing of me actualyl playing but its kinda bad lol

Sibelius basically lets you write sheet music out, and then you can make it play it for you.

Genious, and it saves my ass when i cant play a part. If I can, I just play it though coz scoring it out takes time! :laugh2:

Re: Prog riff

Ah i see.. Thats quiet clever, i think if i was to go with throwing strings and stuff into my stuff id go the "easy" cubase route or something..

Cool riff al the same :laugh2:

Re: Prog riff

that is truly brutal tone !!! ... very cool riff too ... i didnt mind the strings, but the "rapid fire" bass drum didnt quite pass muster .. guitar higher in the mix a touch also

how did you pickup swap go?

cheers

Re: Prog riff

You should know that if you play a metal clip for the likes of me, you're gonna get comparisons! :D
It's pretty good, actually. The 1st half reminds me of the prog metal band Threshold. The 2nd half reminds me of Swedish death metal, or Gothenberg metal, like Children of Bodom or Soilwork.
I've heard this style of riffing before, so there was nothing that really jumped out at me.
The tone is just meh --> there's no attack and the distortion is so thick, that's all I could hear; no tone under all that distortion!!

Sorry to be so critical -- I actually enjoy it a lot. It just seems like I've heard it before, is all.

Re: Prog riff

which amp did you chose for this one? i gotta go eat first, listen and review it later

not bad =P

*sigh* i need a drum machine.. something I can use

oh man, got the backplate off the RG (which is where the pup was, i was gonna take it out to put it into the RS)

5 way selector switch.. theres wires everywhere!

With no soldering experience i decided i'd better start small, so im getting a few of those cheap kits where you like solder an LED into a circuit or whatever and practising with those before I destroy the wiring on two guitars

Set of 10s in drop C arent gonna have much attack anyway!

I just got a set of "beefy slinky's" today sp i can tune down and hopefully keep some clarity

i've never heard of threshold, but i have heard a bit of soilwork.. i havent heard a song similar to this riff though. i've only heard a few COB songs and i dont really like them :D

thanks everyone for the comments :)

Re: Prog riff

The riff is cool. Could live without the strings. But fun nonetheless. Rock On!!!!!!!!!!
