what amp are you looking at? if its the same amp, but combo or head, then i guess its up to you, but if theyre different amps then just go with whichever you prefer the sound on, dont worry about size in that case

Re: Pro's and Con's of Combo VS. Head + Cab

Unless you're a smaller and/or older guy with genuine concerns about injuring yourself lugging the amp around -- or you're playing large/outdoor venues -- go with the combo. I like being able to walk out the door with the amp in one hand and the guitar (plus sometimes bag or bucket o' pedals/adapters) in the other.

I'd go with a head and cab everytime. You can change amp heads and keep the cab or vice versa.

And about this-

I'd start working out if you plan on giging much. They're all pretty heavy. :burnout:

Re: Pro's and Con's of Combo VS. Head + Cab

I'm all for combos. Very often I just like the combination the particular designer puts together rather than piecing it out and trying to figure out what will work well.

Combos are easier for me to move around (I used to use a Hughes & Kettner Triamp w/ a 2X12 cabinet). That thing was a lot more work than my Fargen Epic 30 DC I own now.

If you ever need more (which in my case will probably never happen), get a cabinet and hook it up to an external speaker out on your combo (provided it has it... that's one thing to look for).
